POVEC C1 Intro
If you’re always on the go in changing lighting conditions, you have to check out the Povex C1 electrochromic sunglasses. With as little as one or two swipes, you can easily go from a light tint to a very dark tint to adapt to any light conditions, which is great when you’re biking, driving, or hiking in changing lighting conditions. There’s also anti-glare reflection, allowing you to minimize glare when looking at water or snow, allowing you to enjoy the scenery or lock in whether you’re skiing or snowboarding. There’s also UV 400 protection to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. There’s up to 28 days of battery life and an IP65 rating. But how well do these actually work? Well, let’s take a closer look. And a big thanks to Povic for sending these out for review.
Note that I have an early
POVEC C1 Design
R&D sample of the C1 Electrochromic sunglasses in terms of design. So, the C1 Electrochromic sunglasses come in three colors. There’s a blue, green, and gold. Looking at the front. So, we have this kind of soft feel touch kind of plastic going around at the top, but that doesn’t extend to the bottom. So, it actually looks sharper without the frame going all the way at the bottom. And it also keeps this lightweight. We also have a large uni-body lens that looks really nice. And this does have treatment to help with anti-glare. The nose pad is removable and you can swap it with a small, medium, or large size, which are going to come in the box. So, we do have the POVc logo on the right and left arms. And this is an embossed logo. So, if you run your fingers along, you can feel that on there.
Once you open the right and left arms up, you will see a flashing LED indicator light, and that lets you know that the glasses are powered on. The right arm is where we have the swipe or touch control area to change the tint on the glasses. And notice that this area is hard, but once you get to the end here, it’s soft and flexible where it wraps around your head and rests on your ear. The inside of the arms has this rip type of texture just to help with grip and breathability. The underside of the left arm has the USB type-C port to charge the glasses back up, and this is covered with a weather sealed covering to maintain that IP65 rating. There’s also UV 400 blocking to reduce harmful UV rays, and the lens is actually shatterproof or impact resistance.
So, yeah, overall very solid build quality. By the way, the carrying case is a hard type of shell, so there’s no worries about this getting crushed if
POVEC C1 Electochromic Tint Levels
you have it in your bag. And to quickly demo the claim to fame. So, right now it’s this kind of yellowish tint, but you can see as I swipe my fingers backwards, the tint has completely changed to a very dark tint for, you know, really bright environments. And again, with a couple of swipes, it’s back again to that yellowish tint. I can get the swipe controls to work with normal gloves, but it shouldn’t be a problem with conductive gloves. So, how
How Do Electrochromic Lenses Work?
do the Povix C1 sunglasses actually work? Well, these are electrochromic sunglasses, so they’re using a solidstate electrochromic lens, and this is electronically controlled. Now, this is different than the photochromic glasses where it kind of transitions slowly over time. With this, you have complete and quick control because with just a couple of swipes, you can automatically change the tint. Photochromic lenses may also have a harder time transitioning on very dark or overcast days. So, if you’re noticing that issue with yours, you’re not going to have it with the electrochromic lenses. So, I’ve been using these for
POVEC C1 Daily Use
about 2 weeks now, and these have been so fantastic to have because during the mornings, I like to go for a morning walk, you know, get a little bit of sunshine and vitamin D. So, I’ll just set these to the darkest tint. And then after my walk, I like to pop in and get a coffee. So, I’ll just do a couple of swipes on here. I change it to the lightest tint. I could go in, place my order, take a look at the menu, and walk out with my coffee. Again, with a couple of swipes, I’m back to the darkest tint. And it’s been so convenient not having to take these off, you know, kind of tuck it into my shirt, put it in my pants pocket, or just leave it on a table where I might forget it. With just a couple of swipes, I can go from this extremely light tint to this dark tint and back again.
It’s been so convenient having these. The lens optics are also really good, so there’s no lack of detail. You’re not really compromising on detail or definition when you’re looking around you. And anytime you’re looking at water, you don’t have to worry about that harsh light reflecting off of the water because these do have anti-glare treatment, which is also great if you know ski, snowboard, or if you’re just in the snow a lot or walking around snow, you know about snow blindness. These will handle that without issue. I also realized that before I had these, I was also squinting on very bright days, even if I wasn’t directly facing the sun because a lot of that harsh sunlight still bounces or reflects off concrete and other surfaces like that.
But now with a couple of swipes, I can just go to the lightest tint and it actually improves my vision. Like there’s better contrast in what I’m looking at, I guess, because I’m not squinting and, you know, kind of fighting light. Just the light is entering more naturally. Now, all sunglasses are not like that. I’m sure you’ve worn sunglasses that are very dark. it really, you know, kind of diminishes whatever you’re looking at. But with this, you have variable intensities. Like this is just kind of this medium level. I can go to the darkest level or just go to the brightest tint. So yeah, I’ve loved using the C1 and it’s now part of my everyday routine. These have also been
Are The POVEC C1 Comfortable
super comfortable for hours of wear. And notice that where my cheeks are, the actual lens are not making contact with this. Now, if they extended this plastic frame, it probably would make contact. So I’m glad they didn’t do that. Now, the other thing is that the actual nose pad. This is very soft. It’s flexible. It stays on there nice. It’s not like clamping. It’s not pinching. And you do have three sizes to pick from. And even if you’re looking down, shaking your head any which way, it stays on nice and securely thanks to that kind of rip texture that was on the inside of the arm and just the material as well. So, yeah. Overall, these are extremely comfortable and lightweight for hours or
POVEC C1 Battery Life
day long wear. The battery life has been outstanding on these so far. So, it’s rated for up to 28 days of battery life thanks to a 40 mAh battery. Now, it’s really going to come down to how often you’re wearing these and for how many hours a day. But really important to note is that the battery is only being depleted or used when you’re making those tint adjustments. Once you set it on a tint you like, say it’s mostly sunny for the day, and you just leave it on the lightest tint, well, the battery isn’t being depleted. So, you can see this can really last a long time. And when the battery does go down, you can easily just charge it with a standard USB type-C port. So, even if you’re on the go, you can just charge this up with a power bank, no issues at all. While
Changes To POVEC C1?
I’ve loved using the C1 electrochromic sunglasses, I could see some users maybe wanting automatic tinting. Now, I personally think that could be a bit jarring if you’re switching in and out of, you know, various light conditions, especially if it’s for just a short stretch, unless there was some kind of smart control, like, hey, only change a tint if it’s brighter for more than 2 seconds or 3 seconds. Another change could be doubletapping to switch between the various tint levels, but I’ve gotten so used to just switching in a couple of swipes, and I just prefer having full manual control anyway, so these are perfect as is for me. So, I highly
Do I Recommend The POVEC C1?
recommend the Povix C1 electrochromic sunglasses. These are perfect if you’re out and about all the time, whether you’re a runner, cyclist, hiker, or any type of athlete that spends times outdoors, especially in changing lighting conditions. I can also see these being super helpful if you’re a long haul driver or just, you know, you’re putting in a lot of hours driving. These really do improve your vision. Like I said, you know, putting it on the lightest tint on very bright days, I just see improved contrast. It’s just better definition than if I was using very dark tinted sunglasses. These are just awesome all the way around. Plus, they also have that anti-glare treatment on here, UV 400 protection, and up to 28 days of battery life, which is insane.
This has just been a solid addition to my everyday carry. So, if you want to get your very own pair of the Povix C1 electrochromic sunglasses, I’m going to leave links down in the video description. And if I have any type of coupon codes, I’ll leave those down below as well. If you like this video, maybe consider checking out this video next, and maybe even liking and subscribing.
