hey it’s Adrian and if you’re looking for the best allaround protection for your Zol 6 you’re going to want to check out this metallic case from poetic cases now you still get wireless charging it has a drop test certification there’s a built-in Spen holder hinge protection a screen protector and a built-in kickstand however there is one minor issue that prevents this case from being the perfect case so let’s take a closer look at if that’s going to be a deal breaker for you or not and a big thanks to poetic cases for sending us out for

review in the box we have the poetic metallic case for the Zol s along with a manual that also includes additional adhesive strips if you need to replace the originals let’s take a quick look at
Design
the case before I install it so here’s the front cover and the rear cover so it has the Spartan writing and then the MSD uh drop tested certification now in terms of the hinge protector you can see that snaps back pretty quickly um so it feels nicely friction and then we have one adhesive strip here and no other adhesive strips along the inside of the case and then on the back area of the hinge protector is where you would put in the S spin now on the very rear there’s a large cutout for the lens and the Flash unit and we also have you know a couple grippable or you know kind of grippy elements on here and there is a built-in kickstand so to get access to that you’ll just put your finger um pop that out and then to push it back down or to retract you’re just going to grab it from the bottom press down till you hear the click now in terms of the front case so this has a builtin screen protector you can see right here with a protective peel and there is another um adhesive strip that goes all the way down the side but nothing on the other um corners of the case installing the
Install
case is really easy so first we’re going to peel out the protector for the inside screen protector here and then we’re just going to snap the front cover just like so and probably it would have been better if I started from the bottom but I’ve seemed to have gotten it on and just kind of press it into place and then for the rear case I’ll just retrack the hinge cover go ahead insert it in press down and the case is now applied that was very quick and easy you may have noticed that I didn’t remove the protective peel covering and it’s only because I’ll review a bunch of different cases for this phone so I didn’t want to make it a permanent install but here’s what the phone looks like in the case and it looks really sharp and it feels really good in the hand as well now with the zold 6 it comes in at 241 G and with the case added it bumps it up to 328 G so you’re adding about 87 G um in total with the case so it’s very manageable it doesn’t feel that much heavier and yeah the hand feel on here and the grip ability uh makes it much more manageable I’m a fan of you know the wider grip versus the really narrow uh feel of the Zol 6 the cutouts at the top are nicely done so nothing is obstructed there looking at the bottom again same story nothing is obstructed and then on the side we have the volume button and then kind of a huge cutout here for unlocking or fingerprint unlocking so let’s go ahead and test that out so I’ll just turn the screen off and there we go pretty easy to unlock um consistently as long as you come in a little bit at an angle so once you get used to that should be pretty easy now taking a look at the rear so we have the huge cutout for the camera lens and we have that kickstand so to use this you’re just going to put your fingernail kind of in here pop it out and you can see it has this little um area here for your fingernail to go under when you put it up so in terms of vertically let’s see how that works so yeah that actually stays up vertically and you can also have this um horizontally as well and then if you open the phone up all the way I’m assuming it’s going to kind of rock over yeah so this has to be um propped up this way so yeah this works pretty reliable and you know that stays pretty stable now when you’re done with this um this is kind of tight I’ve noticed so you could press down actually that went down pretty easily let me go ahead open it back up so open it back up now the instructions do say to you know kind of grab it from the bottom here and slide it down and then you can hear that clicks into place so let me try it again but I I think if I just press up here I can get it actually no so it’s better slide it down click it into place and and you know it’s out of the we by the way you’ve probably noticed from the weight that this is actually not a metallic case it looks metallic it’s kind of style that way but it is a hard plastic type of build which is why it comes in so lightweight this is what the phone looks like when it’s closed so it’s a pretty flush type of clothes and that’s because when you open it up and you take a look there’s not really any of those type of nodules or nibs to you know kind of keep it propped open a little bit so it closes nice and flush all the way through in terms of the hand feel and
Hand Feel
grip ability so it feels really good in the hand it’s wide enough now even though this has a matte type of finish it’s not you know like super textured it’s definitely a matte texture but there’s not a lot of grip on the front I would say um most of it is coming from the back here because it’s not perfectly smooth or flush you do have like indentations here with the different textures going on so yeah when you’re holding it from behind and then you have this kind of slightly rubberized area on the side you know this feels nice and grippable and of course once you have the Spen it kind of widens the grip but you do have the option if you’re never going to use the S Pen on this phone just remove the entire Spen housing EV and then you could have it a little bit more recessed now I do know with some cases once you remove the S Pen housing it actually accommodates like the pro edition of the of the pen not the um slim Edition I don’t know if that’s the case here it may be but I don’t have that pen to confirm it but yeah overall in terms of hand feel and grip of ability you know it feels pretty secure in the hand you know easy to manipulate
S SPen Slot
around and here’s what the case looks like with the Spen inserted into the SP pen holder slot so a front view and then rear view now one thing that I noticed is it’s very um cumbersome to take the S Pen out so if you see here there’s a little bit of this housing lip here so if I try to grab the S Pen um it’s kind of not coming out but you could see if you take a look at the side here there’s two arrows showing that you can actually use your fingernails and pop it out that way however when you do that it pops out the entire Spen housing so if you take a closer look at this this is the entire housing that holds the S Pen so from here I can go ahead and grab the Spen out like this and then go ahead and use it but you know just grabbing it just from here it doesn’t really work um that flawlessly because you know I would again have to put in the housing here um pop the S Pen in like so and then when I’m ready to take the S Pen out you can see I’m really trying to get at it but I can’t really I have to kind of pull the entire housing out with the S Pen in tow and then separate the S Pen from the housing so not the most elegant um solution if you’re going to be using the S Spen very often so something to be
Open & Close
mindful of opening and closing the phone is really easy so you could see where you’re going to put your fingers to open and close it we have this kind of textured area or riged area here so open close very smooth and effortless and I have to say that even though I haven’t you know removed the adhesive protector FS neither the front or rear case is Shifting out of place it feels very planted in here now taking a top view of what happens when you’re opening the case so you can see that hinge protector just easily Glides over um the front case bezel there in terms of protection
Protection
so looking at the camera housing or the protection for it the camera lenses are nice nicely recessed in there so that anytime you place the phone you know kind of on its back you’re not going to have to worry about the lenses being scratched and then looking at the front same type of deal but the bezels are even larger or thicker on the front so take a look at that you know that really raises up so you’re not going to have any issue if you ever have to place the phone face down so yeah in terms of protection it should be pretty good this should handle drops no problem since it does have that drop testing certification as well in terms of case w
Wobble Test
so when the phone is fully closed very minimal wobble all very well controlled and of course when you do open the case up this is what it looks like so there’s going to be significant wobble of course due to the hinge protector and just a
Kickstand
look at the kickstand one more time so you just put your finger under here pop that up and you can see you know it stays pretty well locked in place could put the phone down this way this way or this way which makes it really handy you know if you’re eating studying or whatever you could have something playing in the background and of course you can unfold the phone and have it propped up where it’s you know almost fully vertical or if you want an even lower angle you can flip it the other way and in every type of orientation let’s go back this way you know it feels pretty stable let me just do it kind of vertical here yeah it’s pretty much stable in any
Screen Protector
orientation in terms of the screen protector so you can see it adds quite a bit of glare if you’re going to use it with the screen protector you may want to instead of just punching out the screen protector and just using it with the front uh bezel for protection but taking a closer look this is what the cutout looks like for the screen protector so you can see it’s not exactly lined up but it’s still not going to affect your photos that’s still going to come out fine and in terms of touch functionality you know I could still go ahead navigate around that doesn’t seem to really affect how fluid and responsive you know using the screen is and in terms of fingerprints and smudges so I’ll just go ahead you know kind of put my finger on here and you could see there’s noticeable um fingerprints definitely on there so the screen seems pretty prone to you know having fingerprints or smudges and oils so you’ll probably want to keep a cloth with this or like I said you know just remove the screen completely and if you
