Intro
If you just got your new iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max and you want serious protection for everyday life, check out the UB grip case from subcase. The case is super grippy thanks to the textured side grips, plus it also has up to 15 feet of drop protection. Thanks to the reinforced corners, thick front screen bezels and rear camera bezels with individual lens cutouts and an M-L-S-C-D rating. The built-in aluminum alloy kickstand is adjustable for convenient horizontal or vertical viewing and has strong N52 magnets for a secure hole when using maxi of charging and maxi of accessories. There’s also protective button covers, a touchcapasted of camera control button, precise port cutouts, lanyard cutouts, and a USB-C port cover.
But there’s one small crocus should know, so let’s take a closer look at a big thanks to subcase for sending this out for review.

In the box you get these subcase UB grip cases along with an extended warranty card.
Design
In terms of weight, the UB grip block case comes in around 65.6 grams and the UB grip air-mid fiber case comes in at around 68.7 grams, so about a 3-gram difference. Starting with the air-mid fiber case, so this is a 3-in-1 case you get the protective case you get the built-in kickstand and maxi functionality. In terms of the case material, so it has a PC and TPU built along with an aluminum alloy kickstand and the air-mid fiber back. Starting with the back, so we have individual lens cutouts along with cutouts for the flash and light art instead of one huge cutout, and we have thick protective raised lips about 1.5 millimeters high. There’s a small cutout here to pull out the aluminum kickstand and this can be used for both horizontal and vertical viewing, and it is friction really well.
There’s good hinge resistance here, and then once you’re done with it, it snaps back into place nice and flush so that you could use maxi charging and maxi accessories. And as I run my finger along the 1500, the air-mid fiber material has a ton of texture and grip. We have thick and corners all the way throughout the case and you can see that the one corner here does have the same matching aluminum alloy color to match with the kickstand, which is a nice touch. The right side of the case has these raised textured strips to help with grip on the case. We also have an aluminum alloy button cover again matching the same color as the other elements. We also have a protective cover for the camera control button, which I’ll demo later.
And on the other side, we have those continuing raised textured side grips along with additional button covers. And note that on the opposite side of the button covers, it’s smoothed down so that there’s no type of scratching to your iPhone’s frame. The bottom of the case has cutouts for the speaker grills and we also have cutouts to run a land-yard trap on the bottom right and left side. And there’s also a protective USB Type-C port cover that you can retract to get access to. The front of the case has a raised 2mm high lip that goes all the way around and notice that it actually curves around a little bit as well, helping to keep your iPhone retain in the case.
And looking at the inside, we have a nice smooth finish and recess areas again to make sure nothing on your phone gets scratched. And we also have those shock absorbing corners as well. We also have strong N52-strecked magnets to help with max save charging and note that the case actually has an MIL STD-810-H516.8 rating. The UB grip black cases basically the same and all of the design elements except for the back since we do have a frosted semi-transparent matte type of finisher versus the air-mid fiber on the air-mid fiber case and all of the other design elements are the same.
Case Install
Installing the iPhone 18 Pro Max is really simple. I’ll just start in the top right here, push it down and then just push it down on the sides and just like that. Do note that I have a screen protector already installed in the case still went on without any issues.
Case Post-Install
And this is what the UB grip air-mid fiber case looks like on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. It’s such an eye-catching design and in terms of the fitment it actually feels nicely retain the phone feels very secure in here, no type of looseness anywhere and you can see that for the lens cut out they’re nicely centered, same with for the flash and lighter. These speaker girls are also completely unobstructed same for the USB Type-C port.
The protective front screen lip is thicker high enough so that placing the phone screens high down even without a screen protector is going to result in no damage to the screen on a flat surface and when you look at the rear lens, they actually have two layers of protection so the cutout actually has the lens sitting recessed in the cutout but then you also have the additional raised thick protective lip that goes around the entire cutout. Both of the volume buttons and the side buttons remain completely responsive, same with the power button and the capacitive camera control button works flawlessly as well. In terms of hand feel so I could definitely feel the phone case installed on the phone it’s not going for a really slim down look.
The first priority here is protection and it actually does that very well and it’s also extremely grippy thanks to the texture back here with the air-mid fiber material and those textured side grips just a really grippy case overall. Even though the black UB grip case doesn’t have the air-mid fiber on the back since we have that matte type of finish it still also feels really grippy. Again thanks to the textured side grips as well.
Protection
The UB grip case is rated for drops up to 15 feet high. Now I dropped the phone both screen side and camera side down and there was zero damage at all. That’s again thanks to the large raised front and rear bezels and the thick and protective

corners. You also get a secure magnetic hold when using maxi of wireless charging thanks to the strong N52 strength magnets and you could even use Qi wireless charging as well. You can also use maxi of accessories such as a maxi of power bank or a subcase as wallet and one crook I mentioned at the start of the video is that even though you can attach a maxi of accessories with a really strong magnetic hold. Whenever you’re detaching it it does have a tendency to lift the kicks in up and the way to get around that is to detach the maxi of accessory from the bottom up inside of the top down that’ll prevent that issue just something to be aware of.
Magnetic Mounting
You can even mount the case magnetically to circumatallix surfaces now it’s only going to be horizontal mounting if you try to mount it vertically it won’t work since the magnets can’t make full contact due to the raised rear lens portion. It has a decent magnetic hold but it’s not the strongest that I’ve seen and you do have to be mindful of the kick stand kind of lifting up as well so use with caution.
Kickstand
The built-in kick stand can be adjusted up to 120 degrees and you could use it both for horizontal and vertical viewing. Now even let me banging on the table the kick stand in budget and buckle so it’s a very stable experience and you could even use it as a ring holder as well.
NFC
Using NFC or tap to pay also works flawlessly as well.
Wobble?
If you’re wondering about wobble the case exhibits zero wobble whether you’re using it horizontally or vertically.
