Intro

If you’re like me and you regularly take photos or videos, the Telesen Master Grip is hands down one of the best accessories you could get for your iPhone 17 Pro Max. It comes with an iPhone 17 Pro Max case that you can attach to the Master Grip with a strong magnetic hold thanks to the N52 strength magnets. You can even attach additional MaxF accessories like the included fill light on the other side of the mount. You can attach your phone horizontally or vertically. There’s a 3,200 MIA battery built into the grip for max safe charging. There’s top-mounted button controls, including a two-stage shutter button. There’s a zoom rocker for up to 40x zoom, and a mod dial for switching between different shooting modes.
You can attach filters to the rear of the case, which pull double duty as a lens protector. But how well does it actually work? And what if you like your current iPhone 17 Pro Max case? Can you use it on here? Well, let’s take a closer look. And a big thanks to Telison for sending this out for review. In the creator

combo box, you get so many things to get you up and running. So, we have the Master Grip, a matching case for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, USBC to Cat charging cable, a magnetic selfie light with a mirror, UV filter, there’s actually a screen protector along with the screen protector application guide, wet wipes, dust sticker, drying cloth. There’s also a wrist strap or lanyard loop, another large cleaning cloth, and actual printed paper manuals. The Master Grip comes in

at 176 g. And this actually feels very premium, sturdy, and well-built in the hand. There’s no type of creaking, flexing anywhere on here. And this is mostly a PC and aluminum build. And they do mention that they have this kind of eco silicone leather material. And to their credit, this is actually very soft feeling and comfortable to hold, kind of like real leather. And if I just grip it, you can see from a top down view just how well my fingers conform basically all the way around. Feels very ergonomic from a top down view. So we have this power button and this is a pressable or tactile button. And we also have this zoom rocker right here to zoom in and out. We also have another button here. This is kind of a wake up button. And we have an LED indicator light.
We also have a function button and we can map different things to this in the app. There’s a knurled mode dial on the front with hard stop increments. very easy to use. And we also have a thumb rest at the back as well. The bottom of the Master Grip has a USB type-C port to charge the battery that’s in the grip. And we also have a button here to start charging. And if you double tap that, it will stop charging. There’s also a 1/4in thread mount, so you can attach various accessories. And a cutout for the wrist strap or lanyard loop. The mounting area is actually double-sided, so you can mount both to the front and to the rear. So the rear is where we’re going to mount our phone. So right now I have a third party case, not the one that came in the box.
And you can hear that just clips on like resolutely. That’s a strong hold. I’m shaking this. It is not going anywhere. The hold is extremely strong thanks to the N52 magnets used on here. And from here, we could use the included magnetic fill light that comes in the Creator Combo. Just snap it into place right there. And if we were taking kind of front video, we now have a fill light for our face. Now, if you were taking video from the rear, just collapse this down just like so. Now you have a rear fill light. And if I just grab this, you can see this is holding the entire system up just from the fill. That is just how strong the magnetic attachment is on here. Just wonderfully designed.
Telesin Case Design

The official Teles case comes in at around 41 g. Now, if we start on the back, we have a huge cutout here for the camera lens and then a separate cutout for the flash module. Now, the reason why this is done this way is to allow us to slide in the UV filter or any other type of filter. You can see that the filter slides into that metallic rail both at the top and the bottom. So, this is held nicely in place. And if we look at the underside of the filter, you could see those magnetic buttons all along there. So, once this is slid in, if I go ahead and shake the case, you can see that filter is not going anywhere. And this is a genius way to protect your camera lens because this is actually made of high quality glass. It’s not one of those cheap plastic type of lens protectors.
They’re using N52 strength magnets for the magnetic ring. So, the hold is going to be strong. And notice that we have these type of cutouts here along with a graphine type of material to just kind of help with cooling. But I’ll test that out to see, you know, if it actually does make a difference. Now, on the back, we have this same kind of soft uh eco silicone leather type of material that they’ve mentioned. The underside has a large cutout for the speaker grill and USBC port. So, you may or may not like this because it is less protection for your phone. Now, on the inside, we have this soft black plastic area that the phone will rest against, and you can see those magnetic little button attachments for the UV filter.
There’s button covers on the right and left sides of the case, except for where the touch capacitive shutter button is. This is a full cutout, so you still have full capacitive access. Note that the inside of the button covers do have a soft rubberized type of material to prevent any type of scratching to your phone’s

buttons. The magnetic fill light comes in at around 81 grams. And this is so well designed. So on the very front, this is where we’ll turn it on. So if I press this button, you’re gonna see it’s going to power on. And then you can go from 2700 K, 5600K, and 7500K. And whenever you’re on one of these color modes, you can just go ahead use the dial to just kind of crank it to the maximum brightness, 100%, and then back down to the lowest, which is 10% brightness. Whenever the battery does get low, you have a USBC port. You can just plug your USB cable in and charge your battery back up. The underside has a nice soft pad here so it doesn’t scratch whatever surface you mount this to. Now, the other cool thing about this is you can actually flip this up.
So, you can see I’ll power the light on right now. And I can actually attach this to have kind of, you know, forward-facing light or light behind me. And you can see I can actually rotate this a full 360° like in perpetuity. No problem at all. Now, there is another cool feature here, which is that we actually have a mirror. So, if you’re filming someone, you know, you’re using this light to film uh kind of fill their face in, they can actually see what’s on the mirror. Now, the other really cool thing with this is this actually extends out. So, take a look at this. You can actually extend this all the way out. So, you can really, you know, kind of customize the way the lighting is. You can angle it down like so. You know, kind of put it off to the side.
Just a ton of versatility and adjustability. just one of the best thoughtout systems, even down to the accessories for the grip. The UV filter
UV Filter Design

comes in at around 10 g, and that’s because we have this basically aluminum body with, you know, high quality glass in there. So, yeah, this will add some heft and weight to your overall setup, but it just feels so premium inside and
Telesin Case Install

out. First, I’ll install the Teles case on my iPhone 17 Pro Max. So, I’ll start in the corner here. Just kind of pop it in just like so. And the phone is nicely installed. With the case applied, it doesn’t feel like I’ve added much weight because it’s only around 41 grams. Now, the hand feel is really good. It’s very easy for me to just go ahead, you know, kind of manipulate the case, especially since the back is this type of um eco silicone leather. It is very grippy, but the sides are basically, you know, without any type of texture, but it is a matte type of finish. It’s not a slippery finish, so it still feels pretty good to me. All of the buttons are still tactile. So I could do a volume down, volume up, use the shutter button, which I’ve remapped for languages.
I can also do the power button. You know, still very responsive all the way through. Now, because we have the large cutout for the camera button, I can just double click it just like so. Cycle through different focal lengths, no issues at all, and take a photo. And we have that massive cutout for the speaker grill and the USBC port. So, you know, a little less protection there like I mentioned. And then in terms of the camera lens protection, so if I angle the phone to the side, you can see that the protective bezels do stick up ever so slightly above the actual camera lens. So if you place this, you know, camera side down, you’re not going to have any type of damage. And if I slide the UV filter on, you can see that’s even additional protection for the rear camera lens.
Note that since I already have a third party screen protector applied, I didn’t use the supplied tempered glass screen protector. It’s probably better than what I have, but the case still went on without any issues. I noticed that the front screen lip or bezel doesn’t actually extend that high up above the frame of the phone. And you can see with this third party screen protector I have applied, it actually extends higher than the protective lip or bezel. So, that’s something I would have liked to see changed. When you’re not using the Master Grip, you can also use third party accessories. You can hear that clamps down nice because again, we do have N52 magnets for a really strong hold.
If you put the case camera side down, there is very minimal wobble at all, providing you don’t attach the UV
Telesin Grip Install

lens filter. If I attach the Master Grip, you can hear just how well that just snaps or clamps onto there magnetically. And this is not going anywhere. You can see I’m shaking it, you know, kind of upright, upside down, really not going anywhere at all. Whenever the Master Grip is applied, you can actually use this as a stand. So, you can see I can just leave the phone just kind of upright like this. I can watch YouTube videos or whatever really conveniently. And if I hit the table while everything moves, nothing actually falls over. If you’re feeling brave, you can actually put the phone vertical or upright. So, you can see there is a little bit of rocking or wobbling, but it’s actually not falling over. To pair
Master Grip Pairing & Setup

the Master Grip to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, we’ll press the power button and wait for the flashing LED lights. We can see flashing green right there. I’ll go ahead turn Bluetooth on and I’ll wait for it to find it. There we go. Tell us an IP. Tap on that. hit pair and I can see that it’s connected. We now have to go into settings, accessibility, zoom, and we have to turn on the option for zoom right up here. And then we’re going to use three fingers to just tap on here and we’ll hit zoom out. Now, this is going to allow us to use the zoom slider here. Let’s jump into the
Stock Camera App Controls

stock camera app that comes with the phone. So, if I use the zoom slider, I could zoom basically all the way up to 40x. And then I could just go ahead and back that out. And you can see the zoom is actually fairly smooth on here while it switches between the different focal lengths. Now, from here, I could press the red button to go ahead and take a photo. And I could actually use the mode dial button here to switch between photo, portrait, spatial, pano, and, you know, video. Uh, let’s see. Cinematic, slow-mo, time-lapse. But if I go into video again, I’ll press the shutter button here, and it’s going to start recording. Of course, I could go ahead and zoom in, zoom out, and stop recording.
So, yeah, this actually adds, you know, way more versatility in terms of keeping footage stable since you have the grip here and you could just kind of dial in a lot of these with the buttons without having to tap the screen. cuz once you tap the screen, you’re introducing some level of screen shake. Okay, if we press the wake up button here, this is going to switch from the selfie cameras to the rear camera. Pressing the function button doesn’t seem to do anything in the stock app. So, let’s jump into the reef color app.
ReefColor App

In the reef color app, so they have some preset focal lengths, but these are different than in the stock Apple app. Now, if I tap in the top left corner here, I can see the master grip is connected and we have options to dial in what each of the buttons or dials does. So, the front dial is um it was set to switch shooting mode on the native Apple camera app, but on here it’s set to exposure adjust. I could switch the function key from exposure adjust to filter switch, filter intensity, and switch shooting mode. And then the wake up key is to switch focal lengths, but I’m going to put it to switch camera. I do like, you know, it switching from the selfie to the rear cameras. And then the snap sound. When you take a photo, you can pick the type of sound profile you like there.
And I can see there’s also an icon here. And this is where you could take a different look at all of the preset filters on here if you’re going for kind of a specific look. The volume or sorry, zoom slider. You can see as I switch between focal lengths, the screen actually kind of blurs out while it switches to the preset focal length. So, this is definitely not as fluid as when I was using the stock uh Apple camera app. But whenever I’m on a focal length I like, I can go ahead hit that takes the photo no problem. The mode dial is not going to switch modes now. Now, this is going to adjust exposure just like you could see on screen. So, that’s working correctly. Um, the wake up button is going to switch between the selfie mode and the rear cameras.
And then the function key, I had set it to cycle through various filters. So, let’s see. So, dial, function, filter, switch. So, now if I rotate the dial, it’s going to go through some of those preset filters that I showed. So, yeah, the function key will let you cycle the mode button here to go between switching filters or switching exposure, which is pretty neat. So, I prefer using the stock Apple camera app because as I zoom through the different focal lengths, it’s actually not blurring the screen out temporarily while switching, but in the Reef Color app, it was doing that, I’m sure something, you know, kind of a software update should be able to fix that pretty
Ergonomics

easily, though. In terms of ergonomics, so now that the iPhone 17 Pro Max is added with the case, I can definitely feel that it’s a heavier setup. But because of the nice curvature of my fingers around the grip, it’s still really easy to use this for just, you know, horizontal filming. You can see easy to just kind of pan and rotate around. And then if I need to shoot any type of vertical content either this way or this way, it’s a very secure grip and hold. Just really easy to kind of manipulate around versus, you know, trying to grab the just the edges of your phone. You’re trying not to, you know, cover up this lens while you’re grabbing the edges. So, this is just a way better system in terms of hand feel
Magsafe Charging

and ergonomics. Let’s test the Max Safe charging. So, I’ll go ahead press the charging button once, and it should pop up on the screen letting us know it’s being charged. There we go. So, 47% charged, and let’s see if it’ll tell us how long. So, it’s saying about an hour and a bit to get to 80%. So, it’s not going to be super fast charging, but it is going to charge. If you want to run something a bit more complex, you can see I’m actually charging the phone with the Maxive charging and I actually have a cable going into the grip to actually charge the grip up at the same time. So, you can get some kind of, you know, cage setup or some kind of mini portable setup to keep this juiced up. If you’re
3rd Party Cases?

wondering about third party cases, so I’m going to attach my Magack Elite case for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This is my favorite case because the magnets are really strong. And this has full protection at the bottom for the speaker grill, the USBC port, and we also have very thick bezels on the front as well. Unlike with the official Telison case, um the front bezels just weren’t high enough for me. So, I’ll snap that on. You can hear that went on really easily. And the curvature of this case, even with the thick bezels, it’s really not bumping into the thumb rest or thumb grip. And that’s why I can still go ahead use this, shake it, not going anywhere. And you can see I still retain all of the controls. In terms of the
Cooling?

graphine material and the grill cutout on the case, does it actually help? Well, I recorded 4K video at 60 frames per second for 20 minutes. And after that, the temperature increased by 11°. I then let the phone cool back down to ambient temperatures. I ran the same test with the Master Grip on, and the temperature only increased by 5.7°. So, that’s about 5.3° cooler than when the
Recommended?

grip was off. So, if you take a lot of videos or photos and you notice that sometimes your finger gets in the way of those shots, the Telison Master Grip is probably what you’ve been looking for. Instead of running a handheld tripod like this, you have this way more convenient and ergonomic option that actually has a built-in battery to help keep your phone’s battery topped up at all times. And we also have double mounting so we can attach other Maxif accessories as well. The two-stage shutter button for focusing and taking the photo, plus the mode dial for switching shooting modes, and the zoom rocker can really improve your workflow. The ability to add filters is also super cool, and it’s a way more elegant type of lens protector.
