– Intro
it’s adrian from them comics tech and today i’m reviewing this uh newer c-stand so this c-stand has wheels on it and um i do have another csun without wheels that i’m using for overhead led lights but every time i’m trying to do like a unboxing video or a top-down um type of shot i have to get a separate tripod set that up extend the legs and it’s kind of a pain so hopefully this um csan is gonna solve all that so let’s get into it and see how well it works
– Assembly
okay so everything is unpacked and ready to be assembled okay so it does come with some instructions but it looks pretty straightforward so the first step is to swing these legs open and they just click into place like that and set that down the next step is to insert this base this center column into the middle here but before i do that i think i’m going to put the wheels on it’ll be easier to get this out of the way first so the wheels have this kind of um angle here and it fits into the wheels only one way so you just gotta match that angle up and that’s in there and then you just tighten just tighten this knob here so that’s pretty tight not going anywhere so i’ll just do that for the other two wheels and finally last wheel okay it’s pretty tight in there and you could see um it’s wheeling around or moving around pretty seamlessly so the wheels are really easy to maneuver there’s also these locks on the wheel so if you press that down with your foot that should lock it into place and then you just lift it back up to be able to move the wheels so i’m going to put in the center column now tighten this and there you go pretty stable no swaying or anything like that and finally the last step is to attach so there’s a really um big hole here and you’re just gonna put that into the top here once that’s in you just tighten it and there we go okay so the
– C Stand Features
c-stand is assembled and um assembly was pretty quick uh there’s no extra tools that you need everything has on these locking knobs so um quite easy actually so in terms of the features um you can see i’m rolling it around pretty effortlessly on a rug so definitely it’s going to be no problem on hardwood um or any solid floor so i could even move it with you know one finger the wheels work great as well on the wheels there’s a locking mechanism so you could just press down with your foot that locks it and then you just pull that up so pretty good um this is rated for a max height of 11 feet and you can see if i release um the first clamp here you can see it’s spring-loaded you probably heard that so if you drop it just bounces that’s pretty good um it’s a potential to save your equipment versus if it’s like a hard hard drop and you didn’t catch it so a little bit of bounce is good um if i release the second knob here that’s also spring-loaded so my ceilings are not very high but i’ll put it as high as i can get it so you can see it’s a like it goes all the way to the ceiling no problem and like i said um it can go up to 11 feet and then this top one is extendable as well so once you extend this one plus this one you do get a lot of range so i’m just gonna um do a couple of close-up shots to show you some of the other features okay so in terms of the legs or the wheels you can see if you just press this down it clicks into place it doesn’t want to really go anywhere this wheel is not moving and to get it out you just lift that lift that back up and it’ll swivel so very easy to lock it into place in terms of attaching the the leg to the wheel you just fit it in here and then tighten that knob pretty easy the center column here same thing you just drop this into this hole here and then you tighten it no problem and you can see there’s a lot of little uh holes for allen key so it does come with a supplied allen key in case you need to tighten anything up if it gets loose over time build quality wise it looks good i don’t see any damage or anything like that everything looks pretty clean nice and polished this is kind of like a brushed metal finish the rest is a smooth now going to the top you can see there’s a foam grip which is helpful for lifting it so that’s pretty good and then you have this knob here so if i reduce that that’s going to release the spring load there you go here’s the second one so works pretty easily and easy to clamp back um now the other thing is so to actually mount the extension arm you would just open this knob here sorry i’m losing focus you just open this knob big enough so that you could drop this onto this pin here then lock it back and you’re good in terms of the extension arm so the extension arm is rated for i believe five to 8 kgs max weight so you can see on this side it’s a 3 8 inch 3 8 inch thread size so you could connect something there and on the other side this is a quarter inch so you can attach something there too so um i’m probably gonna put a ball head here um and then attach my camera to the ball head that way i can do my overhead shots which is the main reason i wanted to buy this anyway and then in terms of adjustments um you can see here once you loosen this this knob here that’s what’s going to allow you to change the angle of this one so let me see if i could do it one-handed kind of so if i loosen this i can lift that up and you can see now it’s almost parallel to the floor can lift it up again and you can see there’s these um teeth here that lock in once you tighten this back so i’m going to tighten it back and those teeth have made contact so it’s a pretty pretty um solid fit here then if you want to modify the arm how much it extends in or out all you’re going to do is we’re going to go here loosen this knob and then now i can pull this backwards forwards and then tighten it again lastly you have this other adjustment knob so again you know i could loosen this i can move it from this side put it over here and you can see it has different size holes here here and a big one if you want to um attach something else to the c-stand so for the price um it’s a it’s a really good buy like like i said i have another c-stand it doesn’t have wheels it’s just on the ground it’s significantly heavier so it’s kind of something that i just leave it in place i don’t move it around too much but with this this is going to come in real handy you know when i’m doing top-down shots i need to move the camera around super great wheels move really easy let me let me demo that again so you can see here just moves around no problem no sticking nothing like that no squeaking and keep in mind this is on um our rug so you know you’re gonna have zero problems doing this on uh
My Thoughts
floor okay so um i think this is a great c-stand if you’re looking to buy something for um top-down shots or unboxing videos instructional videos whatever it is where you need to have the camera pointing down this is great look at this i could just it moves effortlessly i didn’t think the wheel system was going to work this well but i’m quite impressed and you can hear there’s no squeaking and this is on carpet or a rug and it’s you know moving so easily so really great unit um i like that it’s spring-loaded again that way if you drop it too quickly and you don’t catch either of these arms here or this column you know your gear’s not going to just smash down hard you know there’s a bit of like a little buffer with that spring system again going back you have this quarter inch thread here and then a 3 8 thread here so you can attach um something here and something here and then you have this extra head here that you could run other things in here to attach so all in all great great c stand highly recommend now that i have two i’m good but if i needed another one i definitely jump to this you
