Intro

If you’re like me and you hate kind of rushing or scrambling to write down important notes anytime you’re on an important phone call or in a meeting, well, the PlotNote Pro is probably what you’ve been looking for. It transcribes and summarizes calls or meetings using AI technology. There’s over 120 languages supported, thousands of summary templates to fit any type of industry. There’s four microphones and one VPU for easy speaker identification anytime you have multiple speakers, and an impressive audio pickup range of up to 16.4 4 ft. There’s up to an impressive 50 hours of continuous recording time. There’s 64 GB of onboard storage and a 0.95 in AMOLED screen, and all of that is housed in this extremely thin 0.12 in body that comes in at around 30 g. But how accurate is it really?
How easy is it to use when you’re on a phone call or in a meeting? And if you have the previous Plaid Note model, is it actually worth upgrading to the Plaid Note Pro? Well, let’s take a closer look at how well it performs. And a big thanks to Pod for sending this out
Package Contents

for review. In the box, we have the Pod Note Pro along with a carrying case for it, a charging cable with a type-C connector and magnetic ring if your phone or phone case doesn’t have Mac safe functionality, and a quick start guide.
Design

And this is what the new Plaid Note Pro looks like. It’s very impressive. Take a look at just how slim that is. only about 0.3 cm thin, extremely thin and lightweight as well, coming in at around 30 g. In fact, let me overlay this with a credit card size card, and you can see it’s basically flush with it. It’s really no problem just adding this to your everyday carry. Now, at the very top, this is actually a 0.95 in AMOLED screen with up to 600 nits of brightness, and it’s made with Corning Gorilla Glass. And then we also have a button here, which is what we’re going to use to start recording, stop recordings, and other multi-functions. Now, taking a look at the side, we have one microphone on the top corner here, another at the other corner, and then we have two at the bottom here.
So, we have four microphones on here. On the rear, we have the metal charging contacts along with four screws, and it’s basically a full aluminum metal body. It’s very matte and, you know, kind of smooth to the touch. The magnetic case for the Pod Note Pro is coming in at around 26 g. And this is actually nicely designed. So if we do a top view, you could go ahead and slide the Plaid Note Pro into it. But before we do that, notice that we have cutouts at the very bottom here. So two cutouts there. So that actually means that while the Plaid Note Pro is in the case, the microphone ports are not obstructed in any way. I have the magnetic case attached to my S25 Ultra using a Maxive compatible case. And you can see I can go ahead and just grab it by the actual case, the carrying case here.
And you can see I can just hold or dangle the phone. So the magnetic hold is really strong if you’re going to be using this on, you know, any type of Mac safe phone or Mac safe case. While you may be able to attach the Pod Note Pro to the rear of your Mac safe phone case, it’s better to use the included case that comes with the Pod Notto Pro because it has a much stronger magnetic hold. To set up the
Setup

Pod Note Pro, you’re just going to download the Plot app, create an account, add the Pod Note Pro to it, perform any firmware updates if prompted, and you’re done. Let’s take a
Plaud App Settings

look at some of these settings in the Pod app. So, as soon as I open it up, I can see it’s transferring the last recording that I had. And you can see the percentage right there. You do have an option to tap on fast transfer. It does say that it’s going to connect to Plaude’s own Wi-Fi hotspot. You can turn that on. If I pick this recording that’s 4 minutes long, the first tab is this sources tab. And if I actually play this carry on, >> you could hear my voice. So, this is going to be the original highquality recording audio file. You could skip ahead on here and you can also go ahead change the playback speed and you also have this option to turn on clarify voice. Now, from here, we could go ahead and generate a transcript.
So, if I hit generate on here, we have this option for autogeneration, but if you wanted to fine-tune that, you could go to custom generation. Now, the templates area is interesting. If you work in a specific industry, you can pick different types of templates and you can also create custom ones as well. So you can see we have options here for adaptive summary, reasoning summary, uh clear uh clean and highly detailed, strategic meeting, etc. And you can actually go by different industries. So there’s hairs for like meetings and stuff. Uh here’s for just speeches, calls, interviews, you know, if it’s kind of medical, um sales, consulting, really anything that you need.
But for the most part, I’ve been leaving it on the autogeneration, just hitting uh generate on here and letting it do its thing. So, it does say it’s going to take a few minutes to complete the process. You could leave this page and go wherever you like. So, if I go to um another one of these conversations, one that’s already been transcribed. Again, if I hit on uh sources, you can see this is uh where I could go ahead and actually listen to that audio file. There’s kind of an outline on here of what we spoke about. And then we have transcripts. You can see with speaker identification. That’s me. That’s the person I was talking to. So that’s under sources. Now if we go under notes, tap on that. You can see it’s showing like the recording highlight. This is what the conversation was about.
You could go ahead and expand that. You know, rated as good or bad. And then you can actually ask further questions. So like what specific events fuel speakers to strong aversion to current noise levels? So you can actually drill down further or you know just ask whatever you want at the bottom here manually. If we tap under summary, you can see it actually breaks it down by the vibe, dynamic, the gist, memorable moments, and actually like pulls out stuff that was quoted uh during the conversation. And then you also have this mind map as well. Now you can also go under intent analysis and it’s going to give you, you know, exactly what it thinks is going on there. you know most revealing moment observe tactical pattern uh really a breath of different type of information going on here.
Now you can also go ahead tap on here and you know pick new type of uh notes or uh meeting highlight. So I could tap uh inside extraction uh hit generate uh note on here and just wait for it to do its thing. You can also go ahead and share this. So you could tap on here um share either the transcript, highlights, notes or the original audio um with the other person uh mind map etc. And then if we tap on the options here, you can actually like label the various speakers on here if you wanted. You can regenerate it um find and replace etc. Just really a ton of functionality on here. You can also tap on this search icon here. And if I go ahead and I just search for noise, it’s going to actually scan through a lot of the conversations I’ve had.
And you can see that there’s two different conversations it’s referencing where noise was a primary concern. And of course, you can kind of fine-tune uh your search parameters as well. Now, if you tap on this plus icon, you can actually start a recording if you didn’t want to press a button on the Pod Note Pro. Or you can actually import audio. So, if you have audio from, you know, someone else who recorded it, you can still get a transcription and kind of summary analysis as well. If we tap on this kind of profile icon here, jump into preferences. This is where you can go ahead and set the transcription language. So, it’s set to US. You could put it to audio, but like I mentioned earlier, there’s up to 120 languages supported, so you’ll likely be covered.
You can also go under custom vocabulary and add any type of, you know, industry specific words if needed. If we tap on the last tab here. So we can see I’m on this starter plan. I have 287 minutes left of the 300 minutes and I can actually upgrade from here as well. Now there’s this private cloud sync. You can turn this on or off but basically if your device gets lost, you know, it would have that data sync to the cloud and of course you could manage storage or delete those from the cloud at any point. You can also jump into template community and just kind of download, you know, other templates that other users have created, which is a really neat feature. There’s autoflow, uh, integrations with other services. Really a ton of functionality on here. Now, I’d
Demonstration

like to show just how easy it is to use the Pod Note Pro. So, say I’m in a meeting. I’m just going to long press on the button here, and I can see this kind of audio waveform. So, it is recording. It’s going to switch to a solid white LED, letting me know that it’s on and actively recording. Now, notice that I don’t have the Plot app open. You can use this without ever opening the Plot app until, you know, after your meeting is over. But, I’m going to open it up just to give us kind of a real-time idea of what’s going on. Now, what you can do is you can go ahead and quick press this button. It’s going to do a purple blip there, and that adds a highlighted or key moment in the conversation. So, you can see at 22 seconds, a key moment was highlighted.
I’ll go ahead press that again really quickly. Add another one. And this is helpful. You know, if a client gives you a specific request, if a certain spec or number was mentioned, you know, you may want to have that on there as, you know, a very key piece of that conversation. Now, whenever you’re done, go ahead, long press on the button. It’s going to stop the recording. You can see I can see the battery life. And this blue icon with the double arrows uh that was on there is showing me that it’s actually syncing the data from the Pod Note Pro to my phone even though it’s not at directly, you know, attached to the back of the phone. Um it is transferring that file uh because it does have wireless functionality.
Now you could see that it’s actually syncing this file to the cloud because I did enable the option in the plot app to the private cloud so that if this device ever got lost or stolen, I still have the recording in the cloud. Now, now that it’s fully transferred, I could tap into it. If I tap on sources, this is the original audio file. If I play that, it would be exactly everything I just said. But if I want to generate a transcript, additionally, I could hit generate. Um, I usually leave it on autogeneration instead of custom generation because it works well for me. And I’ll just give it, you know, uh, some time to do its thing. And it does mention that it’s going to take a few minutes. You can continue to leave this page. All right. So, it shows the note is now ready.
That probably took about a minute to 2 minutes I would say. Um, so I’ll go ahead tap into this right now. And if I jump into sources, I can now see the original transcript >> audio waveform. So it is recording. It’s going to switch to a solid white. >> Let me just pause that. So it auto started playing uh the audio file, but it’s basically a full transcript of everything I said. And if I go to the notes tab, which is probably what you’re going to use the most, you can switch between these different kind of subtabs. So highlights uh summary the voice note uh quantitative data and if I actually tap on let’s say summary just to get an idea. So it says it’s a guide to using the recording uh devices core features and it highlights um how to initiate and monitor a recording.
So you can see fairly accurate um and it actually provides you a ton of information along with follow-up uh questions that you may have about the device. So very handy,
In-Person Meetings

very easy to use. The Plot Note Pro also works wonderfully for meetings. So I was actually outside on a restaurant patio. There was a ton of ambient noise, some construction noises going on, and some background music playing. And even with all that going on, I just had this on the table, you know, on the back of my phone. And this was easily able to pick up the audio, identify that there was two speakers, and capture the entire conversation. And since there’s four microphones placed on various parts of the body, you can have speakers sitting basically anywhere around the table. It will easily be able to identify different speakers and you can assign labels to them. But here’s an example of what the audio pickup sounded like.
Even with all that background noise going on, >> it’s a lot of noise. I have neighbors above me who are moving things all the time. I have neighbors to the side of me who are doing renovations. >> This kind of audio waveform. So, it is recording. It’s going to switch to a solid white LED letting me know that it’s on and actively recording. So, I’m
Phone Calls

getting a phone call right now. I’m just going to answer it. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> Is it okay if I record the call? I’ll share the notes with you. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, once I get permission, I’m just going to press and hold and the recording has started and I can just carry on the conversation and just press this once to end. So now that my phone call is over, I’ll just long press the button here for a couple of seconds. And you can see directly on the phone screen. It’s going to automatically start transferring whatever is stored on the plot pro to the plot app. And from there, that’s where I can go in, I can generate summaries, pick different type of templates, and just drill down more, ask follow-up questions, you know, kind of get more details from that conversation.
Plaud Note Pro vs. Phone Apps

It’s that simple. Now, some of you may be wondering, do I even need to use something like the Plaid Note Pro when I could just download an AI app on my phone and just use that? Well, this is why I think the Plot Note Pro is a far more elegant solution. So, a major benefit of the Pod Note Pro is that this actually has four microphones placed on various parts of the body. So, this means we’re going to have better speaker identification when paired with the AI beam forming. There’s also a VPU on here as well, and the audio pickup range is up to 16.4 4 ft. So, you’re going to get far cleaner audio and easier speaker identification using the Plot Note Pro versus the microphones on your phone that are really meant for kind of up close conversations and not really to capture an entire room.
And using the Plaid Note Pro is just far more smooth of a process anytime I’m in an in-person meeting. So, if I was to use my phone, I take my phone out of my pocket, unlock it, ask permission, hey, can I go ahead and record the meeting? Open up my app, hit record, and then put it down. Whereas, if I’m in an Inerson meeting, I could just say, “Hey, do you mind if I record this call? I’ll share all of the meeting notes with you.” And if the other person says yes, I simply just press the button, leave the phone in the middle of the table. It’s a way quicker and natural way to start recording without breaking the conversation flow. The other benefit is that you don’t have to worry about storage or battery life because the Pod Note Pro has local storage and its own battery.
You just put it on your phone or put it on the table next to your phone and you’re good
Note Pro vs. Note

to go. You may be wondering if it’s worth upgrading from the Plaid Note to the Plaid Note Pro, and there are some notable differences. So, one of the first differences is that we now have that 0.95 in AMOLED screen with this nice color display. The Pod Note doesn’t have a screen on here. And just for visual confirmation, I do like having the screen on the Pod Note Pro. Anytime I go ahead and just kind of long press on here, a white LED shows up, letting me know it’s actively recording. Anytime I quick press the button, it’s going to put kind of a purple line or purple blip, letting me know I’m kind of highlighting key sections of the conversation. And then I could just long press it again and it’s going to stop the recording. Once it’s transferring, it shows me the transfer icon.
I just kind of like having that versus not really seeing what’s going on on the Plot Note and having to interact with the app to really know what’s going on. And you can also see battery life at any time as well, which you would have to open the app to see on the Note. We also have double the amount of microphones on the Note Pro. So, there’s four microphones on here compared to two on the Note. Now, this is going to be better for speaker identification using the AI beam forming. The other thing is that the pickup range on the Note Pro is 16.4 ft, whereas on the Note, it’s 9.8 ft. The Note Pro is also rated for up to 50 hours of continuous recording compared to 30 hours on the Note, which has a slightly smaller battery.
The Note Pro also has auto switching to switch from knowing whether you’re on a phone call or an in-person meeting. And on the Note, there is a switch that you have to manually toggle to switch it from, you know, an in-person meeting mode to whenever you’re on a phone call. So, I think a lot of the quality of life updates on the Note Pro is worth the upgrade from the Note, and I really, really enjoy having that AMOLED screen just as visual confirmation for
Other Uses

basically everything I’m doing. Now, I have found one handy use for the Plaid Note Pro, which is probably not the intended use, but anytime I’m working, I like to have something playing in the background on my phone. Usually, it’s a very long YouTube video, and I’m not actively listening to it. I just have it playing in the background to keep me company. So, what I’ll do is I’ll just go ahead press the button here to start the recording while the video is going. And then at the end of the video, some of these videos are like an hour long or longer, I just go and ask for these salient points since this will summarize it for me. Now, that’s something you’re
Pricing

not going to want to do on the starter plan. And speaking of the plans, you’re going to be on the starter plan where you have 300 minutes of transcription, which is pretty generous already. Now, you can also go up to the medium level. I believe it’s 1,200 minutes, and then there’s an unlimited plan where you have unlimited transcriptions. So, if you

regularly take a lot of important phone calls or attend a lot of in-person meetings, the Plaid Note Pro is one of the best tools or partners you can have.
