If you just got your new iPhone 17 Pro Max and you’re looking for a premium case for it, I’m going to be putting cases from MagBback, Paka, Taurus, and Thinborn up against each other. Now, all of these cases bring something unique to the table. However, after using all of them, there’s one case that I think offers the most versatility. So, let’s take a closer look at all of these cases so you can decide which is best for you and stick around to hear my favorite case. I’ll also leave coupon codes below if you’re interested in any of these cases. But, let’s get started. Let’s

Design

talk design first, and this will mostly come down to personal preference. The Thinborn case is extremely lightweight at around 23.5 grams due to the aromid fiber build, which is durable and scratch resistance, and it also has a textured weave pattern that offers good grip for a secure hold. It also has the slimmest hand feel of all the cases since it adds the least amount of bulk at around 1 millm thick. The Magack Elite case comes in at around 51.5 grams and it’s mostly made of a PC and TPU build with silicone side grips on the side for extra grip. It has fairly thick bezels, air pocket corners, and a built-in finger loop that’s really easy to use and quick to stow away flush.

There’s also a built-in kickstand for vertical or horizontal viewing and a USB C port cover that also doubles as a pinky rest. There’s button covers, a large rear camera cutout, and cutouts for running a lanyard loop as well. And the interior of the case has a microfiber lining to protect the rear of your phone. The Taurus Q3 Air case comes in at around 53 g and has a mostly PC and TPU build. The rear back is frosted or matte, and there’s a large camera cutout, button covers, and textured side grips with air cushion corners. There’s also a 360° rotatable kickstand that’s built in for both horizontal or vertical viewing. The inside of the case is the same frosted type of material and it adds moderate bulk to the phone.

Similar to the MacBack Elite case, the Paka Aramid Pro Guard case comes in at around 43 g and it is kind of semi-lim at around 2 mm thick. It has a large camera cutout like the rest of the cases. Button covers 600D aromid fiber build with a textured weave pattern for good grip and it also has a soft fabric interior and arch cushion corners for protection. All of the buttons remain responsive and you could even use the capacitive camera button to switch focal lengths. In terms

Hand Feel

of hand feel, the thinorn case feels the best at around only 1 millimeter thick and 23.5 g heavy. It has decent grip due to the textured aramid fiber weave pattern and it doesn’t add much bulk. The Paka Aramid Progard case also feels pretty good at around 43 g and around 2 mm thick. Now, the rear does have the same kind of aramid fiber weave patterning, so that does add grip, but the sides are pretty much smooth and not as grippy. The Taurus Q3 Air Case and the Mag Elite case feel pretty similar in terms of weight, coming in at 53 g for the Taurus case and 51.5 g for the MacBack Elite case. Both of these cases also add around the same amount of bulk and both have side grips for a more secure hold and grip.

So, go for the thinborn armid fiber case if you want a lightweight and slim feel and go for the MagBback Elite or the Taurus Q3 Air case

Protection

if you want more grip. In terms of protection, all of these cases will provide rear camera protection when placed camera side down thanks to the raised bezels. But that’s where these similarities end. The thinborn aromid fiber case offers the least amount of protection at only 1 millimeter thick. There’s no air cushion corners, very minimal front screen bezels, and there’s zero drop protection rating, so you really cannot drop this phone. Also, the frame is also susceptible to scratches because of the large cutouts. The Paka Aramid Pro Guard case is rated for drops up to 8 ft high or 2.4 m thanks to the thicker bezels, the arch cushion corners, and the aramid fiber build.

The Mag Elite case is rated for drops up to six feet high, and that’s thanks to the thick bezels all around and the air pocket corners. The Taurus Q3 Air case is rated for drops up to 12 ft high, and that’s thanks to the thick all-around bezels and the air cushion corners. So, definitely avoid the thin air fiber case if you need any sort of drop protection. You can see from those drop test demos, I dropped my phone from around 3 ft high using the Taurus Q3 Air case and the MacBack Elite case because those are the only cases where I was confident enough to drop it due to the thick bezels and overall

build. Maxafe charging works flawlessly on all of these cases. All of the cases had a secure hold when using Maxafeie accessories, but the Taurus Q3 Air case had slight slippage due to the retractable kickstand, which can be a bit annoying at times when detaching Maxive accessories. The thinborn pataka

Magnetic Mounting

and taurus cases do not have enough magnets or a strong enough magnetic hold to securely attach to metallic surfaces without slipping or falling. On top of that, the rear camera bump extends so much that you can’t mount any of these cases vertically because you wouldn’t get enough surface area contact for a strong enough hold. The MacBack Elite case solves the issues caused by the rear camera bezel by using telescoping N52 magnets for both horizontal and vertical mounting to any metallic surface like a fridge, a metal shelf, metal bars, a desktop, knife, weight plate. You get the idea. Notice as I bring the case close to the metallic shelf, the telescoping magnets extend out to give me a secure hold regardless of angulation.

On top of that, you can create your own magnetic mounting surface using the included Maxi accessory, which has adhesive applied. I made my door capable of magnetic mounting, but you can use this on your car’s dash or anywhere else, and the hold is rock solid.

Wobble

All of the cases also exhibited minimal to zero wobble when used vertically or horizontally, which is great to see.

Unique Features

Now, let’s look at the unique features of each case. The thinorn aromatid fiber case brings a slim hand feel and look. Now, there is also an included tempered glass screen protector, but there’s no applicator guide, so you have to be perfect at applying this the first time. However, you do sacrifice a lot in terms of having drop protection, and the frame is susceptible to scratches as well. The Paka Aramid Pro Guard case also brings a fairly slim feel at around 2 mm thick and 43 g while still giving you 8 ft of drop protection with the aramid fiber build. The Taurus Q3 air case brings maximum drop protection at up to 12 ft high due to the air pocket corners and thick bezels. The unique 360° rotating kickstand allows you to use it both horizontally and vertically at any type of angulation.

Plus, you can even swap button colors to customize the case further. The Magack Elite case also has good drop protection rated for up to 6 ft high due to the thick bezels and air pocket corners. But there’s also the ultra strong magnetic hold with the N52 magnets that telescope for a secure hold whether mounting vertically or horizontally. It also has a built-in kickstand for horizontal or vertical viewing. A built-in finger loop that stows away quick and flush and the ability to use the included Maxic accessory to make any surface capable of magnetic mounting. Plus, you can customize not just the button colors, but also the color of the side grips, the finger loop, and the rear camera bezel to truly customize the case.

You can even remove the elements like the textured side grips or even the USBC cover if you really wanted to. There’s also an included edgeless screen protector in the box with a very easy to use applicator for easy installation. And the screen protector fits perfectly with the case for a no gap experience, giving you full all-around protection. Plus, it has the strongest magnetic hole to use any type of Macsafe accessory, including their own magback wallet, which also doubles as a horizontal or vertical kickstand. So, which of these

BEST Case?

BEST Case? — Watch this section

cases is best for your new iPhone 17 Pro Max? Well, that’s really going to come down to what you value most. If you’re after the slimmest look and handfield, then the thinborn armid fiber case is great, but you will sacrifice drop protection and some frame protection as well. If you still want a fairly slim setup, the Paka Aramid Pro Guard case is kind of thin at around 2 mm thick and fairly lightweight at 43 g. And it does add up to 8 ft of drop protection and frame protection, which the thinorn aromid fiber case doesn’t. If you want max drop protection, the Taurus Q3 Air case offers up to 12 ft of drop protection.

Plus, it has a 360° rotatable kickstand for vertical or horizontal use, but not a strong enough magnetic hold similar to the Thinborn and Packa cases for metallic surface mounting. There’s also no included screen protector to give you front and back protection. If you want the most versatility, the MacBook Elite case has good drop protection up to 6 ft high and included edgeless screen protector in the box, which is easy to install for all-around protection. Plus, it has the strongest magnetic hold with the N52 magnets that also telescope or extend for both horizontal and vertical viewing to pretty much any type of metallic surface with a super secure hold that I never have to question or worry about.

Plus, you can use the included Maxick accessory to make any surface capable of magnetic mounting. Plus, there’s a built-in kickstand for tabletop use whenever you can’t mount it. There’s a built-in finger loop, which is why this is my favorite case and my top premium pick for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. So, let me know which of these cases you prefer. And if you’re interested in picking any of these cases up, I’m going to leave links down below along with coupon codes so you can get a discount off your order. Also, let me know of any other cases that you like and consider liking and subscribing because I have more phone accessory videos like this coming up soon.

While you’re at it, check out this video next and maybe some of my other type reviews because I also review phones, earbuds, headphones, keyboards. Really something for everyone. And I hope you’ll join me in my next video
