hey it’s adrian from them crumbly’s tech and today i’m back with another microphone review today i’m going to be reviewing the comica v30 light microphone which is an on-camera mic and this can be used with both cameras and smartphones so the mic that i have on right now it’s a cinco m3 microphone and that’s a battery-powered mic this mic is not battery powered it just grabs power from whatever device you have plugged in so we’re just gonna do a couple of tests and then see how the audio it sounds so before we get started with the audio test i just want to go over the microphone very quickly so in the package you just

get the microphone and an instruction booklet you can see at the back of the mic there’s a switch here for putting it from camera to cell phone depending on whatever device you have plugged in one thing to note is this cable it’s uh hardwired in there so it’s not removable so if you damage this cable or it gets pulled too much whatever that’s the end of the microphone keep that in mind you have this plastic shock mount with a little bit of flex here to you know absorb any type of bumps or nudges on the camera there’s also the cold shoe mount with a quarter inch thread and you can tighten that now this windscreen this one is actually removable um you can see it’s a cardioid type microphone shotgun style but you’re just supposed to leave this on all right so let’s just um swap mics and then we’re gonna hear what the audio sounds like
Comica V30 Lite Unedited Audio
okay so i’m back and right now the audio you’re listening to is from the comic of v30 lite now i think it sounds good i actually did a test and it sounds like really good to me the audio is really crisp and clear and there is a pro version of this microphone and there’s a couple of differences but i think like two of the major differences are the pro version uses um aaa batteries i think two aaa batteries and there’s also a high pass filter on that one you could see on this mic um there’s really no settings to adjust you just plug it in and turn it on but i think the audio that you get out of it is really good without doing any type of editing or anything like that so in the video i won’t edit the audio coming out of this so you get a you know a good idea of what it sounds like so let me know in the comments what you guys think of the sound so far like if it’s any different from the microphone i was using which is the cinco m3 at the start of the video okay so this does i’m standing about six feet to the side of the microphone and i just want to see how much sound it picks up from the side so this is six feet away this is about 12 feet away and now i’m standing behind the microphone okay quick cell phone test
Comica V30 Lite Cellphone Audio
this is what the audio sounds like from the cell phone’s built-in microphone okay quick cell phone test so this is what the audio sounds like with the kamika v30 plugged directly into the cell phone now keep in mind if you plug it into your cell phone and you don’t hear the audio very clearly or you don’t notice a difference it could be that your video recording app isn’t picking like an external um audio source so i use the open camera app for android and that lets me specify to pick an external mic so this is what that sounds like okay so
My Thoughts
i’m back and i hope those audio tests were helpful i reviewed them and i i thought it sounded really good actually um considering this isn’t a battery powered mic there’s no gain adjustments and things like that i think the audio that i got out of it both on the cell phone and the camera sounded really good without any editing or anything like that so i i can highly recommend this mic if you just want something quick plug and play you’re not going to have any issues remembering you did i turn it on do i have batteries as a charge all of that stuff then this is a great option if this video is helpful please consider liking and subscribing i’m always doing these type of um gear review videos and let me know what you guys think of the audio quality and if any of you have this mic one thing i wanted to mention like i said when i was doing the cell phone test you know if you plug this mic in on the cell phone and you’re not getting the audio that you want or it’s not sounding clear it could be that you know the app that you’re using to record video is not actually grabbing um audio from this microphone it may still be grabbing it from the inbuilt mic so if you are on android you can download the open camera app from the play store and that lets you specify in the video settings under the audio subsection where you want the optical audio from iphone users i’m sorry i don’t have an iphone so i can’t really recommend an app for you but hopefully something like that exists alright guys take care and i’ll see you in the next video bye
