hey guys it’s Adrian and today I’m taking a look at yui’s brand new permanent outdoor light e120 which features dual color LED so you can have both warm lighting and RGB lighting now these lights also have ai functionality as well so the lighting style can actually be changed for different types of holidays like you know Christmas Valentine’s Day St Patrick’s Day and you can also generate custom lighting Styles as well so let’s take a closer look at how well this performs how bright it gets and a big thanks to yui for sending this out for a review so they really
Package Contents
went the extra mile with the presentation take a look at this as soon as you take the cables out and you plug it in you can just press this button here and you get a preview of what’s to come when you have this fully installed really nice touch in the package we have six bundles of the light strings and each of these is 16 1/2 ft long or 5 m and again this is the 100 ft or 30 M kit now there’s also an extension cable here we have the power adapter control unit and you can see at the back of each of these is pre-applied 3M tape that you can use but they also have included extra 3M tape if you need it and if you want something a bit more permanent they also have Clips along with screws for a more permanent and secure installation there’s also a positioning card that you could use when installing the lights
Design
taking a closer look at everything so we have this control unit with a button that can be used to turn the lights on or off and then in terms of the individual lights themselves so this is about how thick it is and in terms of the width it’s about an inch wide by an in and a half high and you can see we have this domed cover here and the lights are actually really nice you know it’s a really nice effect and again this is the dual color so you can have you know color or a warm glow and then we have the pre-applied 3M tape that you can just remove the backing and adhere it now at the very end we have a three pin connector and this is going to allow us to connect it to the next sequence of Lights this only fits in one way and you can see that these lit up and once you get to the very end you can just screw in this end cap here to keep everything nice and weather sealed the light string
Specs
has an IP67 rating and the operating temperature is from -20 C to 60° C and it can output both full color RGB and 3,000k warm light output I’ve downloaded
App Setup
the U Life app and I’m just going to add the lights to it so let’s go to add device light string and it’s has to connect all the light strings together into the control box which I’ve done so I’m just going to go ahead and press the button now for 2 seconds like it says till it flashes there we go all right so it already found it I’m just going to tap on that okay so we have the lights permanently added now so I’m just going to configure the Wi-Fi okay so the Wi-Fi connected successfully and I’m just going to update the firmware now the firmware update completed successfully so and we’re good to go now note that it mentions the light strings cannot be cut since the control unit and the adapter are not waterproof yui does mention that if you email them they can provide you with a free waterproof box which is very generous installation with these is
Installation
super easy thanks to the pre-applied 3M tape you just remove the protective peel press it up against whichever surface you’re mounting just hold it for you know say 5 to 10 seconds let go and it’s nicely adhered so take a look at my entryway and just how super bright and just bathed in light it is so I was debating between you know putting these lights up at the very top of my house very high up or in the entryway and I thought you know what I want to actually use these lights as a bit of a deterrent as well as you know for light show purposes and I’m so glad that I put it in my entryway because it just makes it’s so bright I was using my UI wall light and I was doing a pretty good job of Illuminating it but you know with the e120 outdoor lights just you know bathing or cascading light down anyone standing there is easily illuminated you know it wouldn’t be smart to try to break into my doorway with you know that much light going on the lights also get super bright so you can see this is me cycling with it you know set to basically 1% brightness to around 25% brightness 50% brightness 75% % brightness and then finally at Max 100% brightness and I found that you know even if I put it to 50% brightness it was still so bright for me and it just completely illuminated my entryway it makes a great deter so yeah obviously if you hang this you know um at the top of your house where it’s casting light down from a really high Vantage Point you’re not going to get as much light kind of cascading or bathing down but if you have an entryway like me I highly recommend putting it in your entryway it just you know really jazzes things up and gives it you know a nice effect and just really f by the way if you’re finding this review helpful please consider liking and subscribing it truly does help me out but let’s get back to it there’s a ton of customization in the
App Settings
yui Life app when it comes to lighting so we can go by having you know seasonal events so when we go into the schedules there’s an option to turn on all schedules so there’s a daily schedule where it’s just going to turn on you know during preset times for like you know say Sunset to Sunrise and you can pick the color temperature but you also have the option to you know enable it for things like Valentine’s Day or St Patrick’s Day or Halloween or Thanksgiving and it’s just going to automatically you know remember to switch the light over to that type of light pattern or those light color so you don’t actually have to manually do it which is a super nice touch the other thing that I really liked is the AI features on here so it has this magic Dice and every time you tap it it just kind of autog generates you know a random type of color sequence and some of them are really nice and once you find one that you like you can just go ahead and you know save that so you don’t have to just constantly be cycling through so it’s a really cool feature to play around with the other thing you could do is to use the AI you know typing or chat feature where you could just give it a prompt and then hit generate and it’ll just create that for you or you could say flashing pattern and it will actually generate that now if you’re not really a fan of the AI feature what you can additionally do is go into the customized Tab and you can actually set up the lights exactly how you want it you could pick you know which of the individual LEDs are lit up what kind of effect it has if it’s like breathing you know trailing um static really a ton of customization on here and of course you can always disable all of the AI features you can disable all of the schedules and you could just set a completely custom light show that you want so you could just say hey I just want a static warm light color or a blue color or purple or whatever your favorite color is set the schedule for it and you have that functionality as well in the preset schedules for certain holidays like say Christmas or New Year’s Day I did notice that I preferred some of the other options versus the first options so for example so you can actually click into any of those or tap into any of those and then set the actual you know event color scheme that you like so if you’re thinking about

outdoor lights you know don’t go for generic boring Christmas lights go and pick up the UI e120 permanent outdoor lights because you have way more versatility with these you could use these as just you know basic lights where they have you know a warm or cool color temperature just for accent lighting or to help illuminate your entryway so you know it’s a the deterr or it’s easy when you’re coming home and you’re not fishing around for Keys it’s great for that but then as soon as you want to get a bit more festive with things for holidays you can have you know your country’s Flags during uh you know soccer events or you know you could change your colors if you’re expecting a boy or a girl just really the customization on her is endless especially once to factor in the AI feature and then the ability to you know just give it a prompt and it’ll custom generate you have a ton of options and you’ll never get bored playing with these I would even consider buying another set of these and putting these indoors because you know this would make great kind of ambient or accent lighting you know when you’re watching a movie or in a bedroom and because you have so much versatility in terms of the brightness you could really crank these all the way up or really dim them down to suit the mood so if you’re interested in picking up the yui permanent outdoor light e120 I’m going to leave some links down below and as always if you found this video helpful please consider liking and subscribing I have ton more content like this coming and I’ll see you in the next one soon
