Intro
hey guys it’s Adrian and I was looking to add additional storage to my laptop but I didn’t want to spend too much so I came across this drive from Vision Tech this is a 1 terb Gen 4 drive and this is their dlx4 nvme drive so I’m going to pop it into the laptop run some tests and let you know my thoughts the package
Package Contents
shows that it comes with a 5year warranty but you do have to register this within 30 days of buying it so once you open the package up you can see that there’s not really much that comes with it except the driver so let me just pop that out so we can take a closer look and yeah this is what the drive looks like so it’s a pcie 4.0 drive nvme m.2 with a 2280 form factor and this is what the underside looks like taking a
Specs
look at the tech spec so this is using the in grip IG 5236 controller the max sequential read speed is rated for up to 7,415 MB a second and Max sequential rights up to 6,800 megabytes per second and I’ll get into the real world speeds uh later in the video and then in terms of features so we have Smart on here we also have a 3D n this is a Gen 4 drive you can just pause it and take a look at this and the nvmb protocol is 1.4 so the 512 is the lowest across the board and and the one tbte which is what I have uh that’s the rated speed and rated RS and then you could take a look for the 2 TB capacity and then the 4 TB capacity so
Usable Storage
the 1 TB drive has been added and of the 1 tbte I have 931 gigs of usable space
Benchmarks & Speeds
all right so I’ve ran the crystal disc Mark test a handful of times with different parameters and I’m getting roughly around 7,110 mb per second sequential read speed and around 3,110 MB for sequential right and if I take a look at the dat sheet here so for the 1 TB Drive which is what I have I’m getting around um the range for the max sequential read speed so around 7,110 however for the max sequential right I’m not getting anywhere close to the um you know Max advertised speed of course it’s a max speed which is almost 6,000 MBT per second but I’m getting about half of that so just keep that in mind if you’re wondering if you could
PS5 Compatible?
put this in a PS5 possibly the PS5 has a minimum sequ itial read uh requirement of 5,500 megab a second again that’s the minimum recommended this is coming in at around 7,100 so it easily passes that minimum now you would need to put you know kind of um a thermal pad on top of the drive since it does recommend that for the PS5 um I will link that below if you want to try it now I haven’t put this in my PS5 I have a Samsung Drive in there right now but py potentially you could run this in a PS5 so there you have it
