What is NuPhy’s GhostBar?
Disclaimer: The GhostBar & Twotone wrist rest samples, were sent to me by NuPhy for review.
If you haven’t used any of NuPhy’s mechanical keyboards yet, you may not be familiar with their GhostBar technology. Instead of the standard spacebar that comes with most mechanical keyboards, NuPhy’s GhostBar is custom-made with sound dampening and isolation in mind.
The quickest way to understand the differences is by looking comparing a standard spacebar and the GhostBar. The GhostBar has separate compartments to help reduce sound, along with a silicone sound-dampening layer and polycarbonate connector. The result is a less sharp sound that is more pleasing to the ear, at least, I think so. NuPhy ships most of their keyboards with the GhostBar installed, along with a standard spacebar for those who prefer the sound profile from a standard spacebar.

How Does It Sound?
Here is a sound comparison using a standard spacebar and the GhostBar: https://youtu.be/jM3202MIVOA?t=478 You can definitely hear that with the GhostBar applied, the sound is a little less sharp, and it matches the overall sound profile of the rest of the keyboard while typing.
If you prefer the sound of the GhostBar, as I do, NuPhy is now offering the GhostBar in a variety of colors to pair with other non-NuPhy branded keyboards. Whether you just want to add a pop of color, or you want a more pleasing sound profile, nine colors are currently available.
GhostBar Design & Keycap Profile
The GhostBar comes in either a KOP(OEM) profile or Cherry profile. They are double-shot PBT keycaps.
GhostBar Colors
The available colors are:
- Banana Yellow
- Sunset Orange
- Coral Pink
- Snow Violet
- NuPhy Blue
- Mint Green
- White
- Gray
- Black
At this time, there is no option for custom color orders.
GhostBar Mechanical Keyboard Pairings
The GhostBar comes in clear packaging to see the color easily. I was sent the Sunset Orange, NuPhy Blue and Black GhostBars in the Cherry profile.
The colors paired nicely with my other mechanical keyboards, but keep in mind that these will not fit low-profile keyboards.
Here is the GhostBar installed on my other mechanical keyboards. I also applied the black GhostBar to the NuPhy Halo 75, and I really like how the black contrasts against the mostly white color scheme. They add a nice pop of color to my keyboards while also improving the sound profile.
TwoTone Wrist Rest
NuPhy also has frosted matte wrist rests, which are available for 65%, 75% and 96% keyboard layouts.
The wrist rests feel rigid and have a bit of heft to them. They feel premium. The bottom of the wrist rest has a solid white bar on the unit with the NuPhy Studio logo stamped at the bottom right of it. The NuPhy logo is also stamped at the top right of it but is harder to notice. The underside of the wrist rest has rubber feet to prevent sliding and colored white screws to secure everything.
I was able to use the TwoTone wrist rest with all of my keyboards except the RK96, which doesn’t have a completely straight bottom.
Price
The GhostBar costs $7 USD per color, regardless of the profile chosen. The TwoTone wrist rest costs $29 USD, regardless of the layout size chosen.
