Intro
hey it’s adrian and today i’m taking a look at this rechargeable battery case for the samsung galaxy s22 ultra before i start i want to say i’m happy with the battery life on here but i know some of you are you know more power users and you weren’t happy with the battery life so maybe something like this is a good option for you so let’s take a look and see how it does in terms of the specs so
Specs
the box does say that it has a bunch of protections in place so short circuit over voltage over charge low voltage and over current in terms of the weight so with the case on the s22 ultra it comes in at 382 grams and the s22 ultra by itself is about 229 grams so there’s an additional roughly 150 grams if you want to get an idea about the depth of the case so you can see i have the ruler kind of positioned right at the edge here and it’s coming in at around two centimeters thick or two centimeters deep in terms of the
Build Quality
design it feels really well it doesn’t feel cheap or like it’s gonna fall apart on me but taking a closer look this is like a matte type of finish but it’s quite smooth and same with this part it’s kind of like a felt type of finish so when your phone is there on the back um you know you’re not gonna have any issues with scratching or anything like that and in terms of the material so it’s kind of like this hard plastic at the back here but at the top it’s kind of like a soft or rubberized material and that’s where the phone would go in and just overall you know it feels pretty grippy except the top here here smooth here’s a bit more grip but overall i mean i don’t feel like it’s going to slide out of my hand okay let’s look at
Installation
the insulation now it’s really important that you go very slowly to avoid damaging your phone’s charging port when it sits in here so to install it you’re gonna have to peel back this top part and what you want to do is slide your phone pretty much vertically in until it connects with that charging port so let’s do that now so i’m just going to take my phone kind of angle it at the side right now and as i get closer so i’m going to keep sliding it in let me move it into camera view so i’m going to keep sliding it in and right now you can see if i look at the side view this is kind of angled back so i’m going to pull it more slide this right to the bottom and now i can see that it’s kind of seated seated into this charging port and i can flip the top over and that’s
Design
it okay so now that the case is properly installed let’s take a look at the overall appearance and design so you can see from the front if i kind of angle this hopefully you can tell guys but there is a bit of a lip on the side there and on the side here and also at the bottom let’s see if i can get that bottom lip showing a bit more so you can see it’s a decent enough flip so that if i put the phone down like that i don’t have to worry about this screen getting scratched so the lip is adequate on both sides and at the bottom there now where there is a slight bit of an issue is at the top so you can see this top part here you know there’s a bit of play here it doesn’t snap down you know flush and i don’t think they can it can ever snap down flush and the reason is because the design of this since it’s a one piece design it’s meant so that this top part can fold backwards so you can slot the phone in vertically so you know you are gonna have this bit of play at the top now i’m gonna say it did bother me the first couple of days but honestly i’ve just gotten used to the look of it overall though i think the design is really well thought out because if i look at the bottom of the phone here you can see i have access to all the ports so i can still charge the phone there’s the microphone port there speakers and you can see where the s pen is it’s a bit recessed so this black part here it kind of dips down here and that makes for you know easy use of the s pen or just easy to access it and grab it so that’s really great the only thing you don’t have access to is the sim card tray and that’s fine because that’s not something you need access to all the time anyway looking at the side of the phone you can see you have two buttons there and these are very tactile hopefully you can hear the clicks so those work well and i haven’t had any type of like miss clicks or anything like that at the top you have another port here for the other microphone now at the back that’s where you have the wireless charging and that’s such a handy feature to have for me personally because that’s what i use most of the times you also have this button here and you can see so it’s a it’s a hard type of finish and it’s flush so you know you’re not going to accidentally hit this and trigger it and even if you did hit it once it’s just going to show the led indicator level and you have to hold it down for three seconds and then it shows that it’s feeding uh power to the phone and then you can hold it down again to cancel that so really easy and simple operation and then finally at the back here you have your camera cut out so if you’re like me and you’re ever eating and you just kind of stand your phone up this this does work for that so even though the flatness here doesn’t carry all the way across to where the s-pen is it’s still relatively stable so you can see i can stand it up and you know i can kind of like move it hit it doesn’t go over i mean definitely if you hit everybody enough for us but if you just have it on the table while you’re eating that’s a pretty neat feature because you don’t need anything extra that stand it
Ergonomics
up so i consider my hands to just be around medium size so if i kind of stretch out from my pinky to my thumb it’s a about eight inches or a little bit over and that allows me to just you know kind of grab the phone easily and you can see my fingers can curve around so i have a pretty good grip on it now what i like to do is keep my pinky at the bottom here to support it and i can unlock the phone if i want to reach the top i can just kind of like drop my pinky out go to the top you know look at the app there scroll to the top go back and then come back to the bottom here so one-handed operation is actually pretty decent on here once you get used to it one thing to keep in mind about ergonomics is if you don’t use a bluetooth you know earpiece or earbud for phone calls it can get a bit tiring to kind of grip this deep of a back on the phone if you have it up to your ear so you know i have used it for calls that are you know 30 minutes long and it does start to get tiring you know having to grip it with that type of weight so definitely if you are on the phone a lot invest in you know a bluetooth earpiece or um earbuds
Battery Performance
all right let’s talk about the most important thing which is the battery performance so right off the bat the case adds an extra 4 800 milliamp hour battery but the s22 ultra comes with 5000 milliamp hour battery so right away you’re only going to get one charge and it won’t be a full charge if you’re starting from zero because at 4 800 you know and 5 000 there’s a 200 milliamp hour battery difference so from a zero percent on your phone you’ll get into you know the 90s or high 90s type of deal so i did try to monitor how much extra battery life i got once i enabled charging on the phone so what i did was i left bluetooth on location on wifi and basically those are the things that i have on my phone running all the time so the first time i did the test i started at 84 and then after 25 minutes i had 99 so i gained about 15 in 25 minutes the second time i did the test i started at 30 and after 25 minutes i finished at 44 so that’s about 14 in 25 minutes so basically in 25 minutes you can expect 14 to 15 of increased battery life and that works out to about 0.57 to 0.6 of charge every minute so what i’m going to do right now is i’m just going to show you how the charging works so right now i’m at 55 what i’m going to do is turn the phone over hold down the button until the charging activates and you can see it’s charging right now now it’s showing that it’s going to take around an hour and 13 minutes to get it fully charged but what i’m gonna do is i’m just gonna run this timer here and we’ll just check it after say 10-15 minutes to see how much the battery percentage has increased okay so we started at around 55 and right now it’s showing 63 so we got about 8 in about 15 minutes and now if i just quick press the button you can see i lost one bar so if i go ahead and activate charging again i’m on my third bar and because there’s four bars and sorry four lights and it’s 4 800 milliamp hours each of these represents uh 1200 milliamp hours in terms of recharging the case so what happens is when you try to recharge this either wirelessly or with a type c cable it’ll charge the phone and the case simultaneously so right now i have this wireless dock here wireless charger this is normally what i have on my desk if i just angle it and i put the phone on there you can see it says right now charging and it shows an estimated time so while this is charging it’s actually charging those led lights at the back where it’s charging the battery case i just can’t show it now if i was to take the type c cable here so let me just yank it out of there and i put it into the bottom here you can see it’s going to show there 42 minutes still charging so much faster when you have it plugged in and right now it’s charging both the phone and you can see the led lights going at the back there so i think it’s a pretty handy feature that i could charge both at the same time so one potential issue with this is that oftentimes your phone will get to 100 and the case is still charging because it takes a full four hours from the case being completely drained to charge back and you don’t want your phone to be charging at 100 because that’s going to reduce the battery life so one workaround i’ve found for that is i just kind of go into my settings i scroll into the battery area here and i click on battery scroll down to more battery settings and i enable this option protect battery and what that’s going to do is it’s going to cap out the battery at 85 percent so the phone’s gonna stop charging and all the power will just go directly to charging the case so just keep that in mind to summarize so it’s about four hours to fully charge the battery case when it’s at zero and you can expect about 0.6 of charge every minute so for example a 25-minute charge is going to give you around 14 or 15 so one thing that i like
Size Considerations
to do when i’m going to be using my phone horizontally for a while is to use kind of like one of these small tripods here so you can see it goes in pretty deep and on a kind of you know regular size or average size phone there’s a lot of room left to go forwards and backwards however when you have this thing on and you can see it’s quite deep and you slot that in you know hopefully you can see but i can try to tighten it let me try to tighten it a bit so the lips here they can’t grab the phone so you can see it’s just grabbing kind of like the edge here i mean it’s still pretty stable on here but just keep that in mind you know if you’re gonna be using something like this or you’re gonna put it into your car uh cell phone holder chances are it’s not going to accommodate this so you’re going to have to buy a cell phone holder that’s specifically designed to accommodate or fit you know phones with this thick of a case so carrying this phone around every day i’m able to slide it into my jeans pocket without any issue even though it’s about twice as thick as a regular sized phone so it definitely you know slides in pretty easy especially because of that contour but you are going to notice a protrusion because it is so deep okay so can i recommend this

rechargeable battery case for the s22 ultra and i can easily recommend it if you can handle the added weight and you know the adjustment time which took me about a couple of days where i felt comfortable using it one-handed at the start out to use two hands so you know it is a four thousand eight hundred hour milliamp uh battery and the s22 ultra is a five thousand milliamp hour battery so you you’re only going to get about one charge from this now you can definitely buy a power bank now this is a 10 000 milliamp hour battery and you’ll get two full charges from your phone from this however you’re carrying a separate piece and you still need to carry a type c charging cable with this as one really convenient uh package and the other thing is you know you’ll still have to recharge your power bank separately with this it’ll charge the case um and the phone at the same time either wirelessly or with a wire so i think it’s a great option if you’re on the road and you know you just need the occasional top up or you just have kind of battery anxiety all the time this will do a lot to quell those spheres now if you think this is too heavy and it’s not an option for you or even if you’re interested in this but you still want to prolong your battery life go ahead and check out my video here with battery tips and as always if you found this video helpful please consider liking if you have any questions leave it in the comments down below i really do my best to get back to everyone and i’ll see you in the next video bye
