Intro

Hey, it’s Adrian and if you’ve been curious or interested in bone conduction headphones, but you don’t want to spend too much, you have to check out these SAG B21s bone conduction headphones. They’re extremely lightweight and comfortable. They have an IPX5 rating for wet conditions, really long battery life over 10 hours, 13 mm drivers, a 33 ft or 10 m range, and actually pretty decent sound quality, especially for bone conducting headphones. So, let’s take a closer look to see if these could be your very next pair. And a big thanks to Sonag for setting these up for

review. In the box, we have the Sonag B21S bone conduction headphones along with a manual QR code to download the app and a USB type A to type-C charging
Design

cable. And this is what the B21S bone conduction headphones look like. Now, this is extremely lightweight, only coming in at around 21 g, so you’ll barely know or feel like it’s there. And for the most part, it’s an all plastic build. That’s why it’s so lightweight. And then we actually have this kind of memory wire in the back here. So, it’s a titanium alloy memory band to retain the shape. So, you can see I can just go ahead curve it and it’s just going to snap right back into place. So, you can basically twist this any which way you want. There’s physical buttons to actually change the volume up and down or to skip and advance tracks. And these have tactile button press. Next to the buttons, we have the USB type-C charging port that’s covered with a rubber type of seal.
So, if I remove that out of the way, we have the USB type-C charging port. So, you can use any type of charging cable. And then just make sure you actually close this back because this does have an IPX5 rating, meaning you’ll be able to use this, you know, for workouts, whether you’re sweating in the rain without any type of issues. On the other side, we have the Sonag logo, and then we have the headphone units themselves. So, there’s a 13 mm driver in each of these. And if we take a look at the inside here, there’s this very soft silicone type of pad. Let me do a side view. And this is what’s going to actually rest against your skin. So, this should be very comfortable. And I’ll let you know how comfortable it is.
There’s a 160 MIA battery on here, which is rated for up to 10 hours of play time. Here’s a quick

look at the specs. Feel free to pause or jump ahead to the next section. To pair
Bluetooth Pairing

the headphones to your phone, you’ll press and hold the volume up button, which also doubles as the power button. So, hold it for about 3 seconds and you should see this flashing LED indicator light right there. I’ll hit scan on my phone and I’ll wait for it to pop up here. So, it’ll be the Sonag uh B21s and I can see it right there. So, B21s, hit pair. So, it’s now connected for calls and audio and it’s fully charged at 100%.
App Settings

I’ve added the Sonaga headphones to the app after pairing it by Bluetooth. So, I can see it’s at 97% battery life. I’ll just tap into it to see the full settings. So, there we go again. So, 97% battery. From here, we can also change the volume up or down, advanced tracks, play, pause, and then we have some equalizer settings here. So, you can go rock, ultrasonic, pop, classic, lyric, soft. So, there’s no options for custom EQs, but you do have pres ones. And there doesn’t seem to be a way to remap any of these. So, it’s pretty much hardcoded. A couple neat things to note is if you go in the sleep tab, you can just kind of have this background ambient noise playing. You know, just to have something nice and relaxing if you want to de-stress. There’s also an AI tab right here.
And then you could just chat with the AI. It uses various models. But if I use say this intelligent voice chat here, um, what is 21 Celsius to Fahrenheit? So when I use this feature, it actually provides me the answer in Mandarin. You guys can’t hear that, but it’s not in English. Now, if I use the uh chat here, then it does provide the answers in English. Um, so you know, that’s something that, you know, may be uh kind of a beta feature. It does say it’s new. Now, if I go under my profile and I go under language settings, it is currently set to English. these are the other languages. So yeah, the AI thing is not something I’m going to see myself using a lot anyway, but it is there if you want to play around. The button controls
Button Controls

are really easy to use. So if I do a quick press on volume down, it’s going to decrease the volume just like so. And then pressing volume up will just increase it. Now, if I long press on the volume down, it’s going to go to the previous track. And then if I go ahead and long press on volume up, it’s going to go ahead to the next track. Now, if you ever want to pause and resume playback, you would just doubleclick on the plus icon, just like so to pause or resume playback. And you can only do that on the plus one, not the minus. And then whenever you want to turn the headphones off completely, you just press and hold for a little bit of time, and then it’s just going to power them
Sound

off completely. All right, let’s talk about sound. Now, these are my first bone connection headphones, and I really didn’t expect these to sound as good as they do. So they have 13 mm drivers and we have the AAC and SBC codecs. So none of the really high-res codecs. However, if you have the correct expectations, meaning you know you’re prioritizing comfort and, you know, kind of fitment, long battery life, then the sound that these provide is actually pretty good. So I mostly use the SSQP equalizer, which is the default equalizer in the SAG app. And then there’s an ultrasonic pop equalizer. So I went between those two, and I kind of prefer the ultrasonic pop equalizer. It was just the best bounce.
The other equalizers, I found that anytime there was, you know, a lot of bass in a song, it would actually vibrate enough where it was kind of like a disconcerting feeling. I didn’t like the feeling of the vibration, but ultrasonic pop EQ and the SSQ uh VP EQs sounded really good without, you know, kind of taking me out of the listening experience. So, vocals actually came through really nice and really clear on these. And I really didn’t feel like I was missing out on much. And if I compare them to the open style earbuds that kind of clip onto your ear, these are not that far behind. And I actually wore these for, you know, long parts of the day thanks to the long battery life. And I really didn’t feel like, hey, you know, I should switch to something with better audio fidelity.
Like this was perfectly fine just for the convenience and comfort. Now, the area where you may feel these are lacking a bit, especially if you don’t use some of the other equalizers, is bass. Yes, you can feel that there’s bass in the song. you can feel it come through, but the fact that it actually kind of vibrates or rattles a little bit when that comes on, I really couldn’t get used to that feeling, which is why I stuck to the previous two equalizers. So, I would say the bass performance is, you know, average when using those EQs, but if you can handle, you know, the kind of vibration, yes, you can feel the bass more prominently.
So, yeah, you’re not going to get the highest audio fidelity, but if you have correct expectations, I think you’ll be plenty happy with the sound coming out of these. And because it’s not in your ear canal, there’s no ear canal fatigue. You don’t feel like anything is stretched out. And you’ll always be aware of your surroundings, especially in situations where that really matters. Now, I do like to listen to music really loud, maybe louder than a lot of other people. And if I crank these to the loudest volume, they get loud, but if you’re in a very noisy environment, you’re going to hear what’s coming through on the headphones plus whatever is their, you know, kind of ambient noise because your air canal is not, you know, blocked or oluded in any way. is just completely open.
So, you’re kind of getting, you know, both worlds, whatever you’re listening to plus whatever is going on. Just something to
Battery

be mindful of. The battery life on these is rated for up to 10 hours. Now, I’m not sure based on what volume level, but when I listen to these, I’m usually working indoors. I listened at around, you know, say 50% volume, and I easily surpassed the 10hour mark. Like, I was getting close to, you know, 15 16 hours. So, battery life phenomenal on these. And whenever the battery life does go down, it’s only like a little over an hour to fully charge these back up.
Sound Leak Test

So, in environments like, you know, a busy coffee shop or a restaurant, these are really not going to be heard by most people, even if you listen at 70 to 80%, I would say. But if you’re in a very quiet place like a library, yeah, probably just keep it around, you know, 50 60%. Here’s an example of what audio
Mic

sounds like from the microphones on the Sonag B21S phone conduction headphones. I’m in a very quiet room with basically no ambient noise. I’m now going to play simulated background noise from a busy coffee shop to see how well the microphones handle it. Here’s an example of what audio sounds like from the microphone on the Synag B21S Bone Connection headphones in a very noisy environment. So, these do a fantastic job canceling out a lot of background noise, and I’ve used these on a handful of calls, and I didn’t have any issues with, you know, the voice sounding far away or distorted. Now,
Comfort

comfort is where these really shine. So, you could wear these with glasses on, like I am right now, and there’s no problems at all. These are easily all day wear headphones. They’re very lightweight, coming in at only around 21 g, which is impressive. The other benefit I noticed with these is like if I was to wear earbuds and I lay down on my side, you know, the earbuds push into your ear canal, it’s very uncomfortable. You’re kind of rotating your head at an angle. With these, if I lay down on the side, because it’s so flat against my face, it’s really not very uncomfortable. Like I can actually lay down on the side, watch something on my phone, no problem. The only thing is if you lay, you know, like on your back, you know, stomach side up, then the band is just going to push forward.
That’s something you can’t really get away from. But the earbuds would get rid of that problem. So, you kind of have to decide. If you’re someone who’s normally on your side, these are perfect. If you’re on your back, not so perfect. So,
Recommended?

yeah, these Sonag B21s bone connection headphones have been seriously impressive. I didn’t expect to like these as much as I do. Now, I’ve reviewed a bunch of traditional earbuds. Um, you know, the open style clip style, the in-ear canal ones. These are definitely the most comfortable, of course, due to the fitment, the design, and these also have amazing battery life on them. And again, because I kind of lay down on my sides in bed, these just press really nicely against there. They’re not pressing into my ear canal. They’re just super comfortable. And if you have the right expectations, knowing that yes, these are not sitting in your ear canal, so you’re going to hear the outside world. And that awareness sometimes really matters. You know, I see people driving with earbuds in their ear.
Like if they have&c, how would you hear if there’s like an ambulance or something? These you can actually listen to music and be fully aware of your surroundings. And the trade-off, like in terms of the sound quality, that’s an easy trade-off to make. It sounds pretty good. So, if you’re interested in picking up the Sonag B21S Bone Connection headphones, I’m going to leave links down below. And it also comes in other colors as well. However, if you think you’d like something a little bit more traditional, check out this playlist here or whatever videos linked here because I review a bunch of other earbuds, headphones, whether it’s, you know, clip-on style, semi in-ear, full in-ear. I’m sure you’ll find something you like. I have a huge favor to ask.
